Cage the Elephant released their second album this year, Thank You, Happy Birthday. I didn't really know much of Cage the Elephant except Ain't No Rest for the Wicked which debuted sometime in 2008.
I really liked what I heard. They have a nice indie rock flavor, similar to some of Modest Mouse's later works. What was also nice was the album never got stale at any point during the course of the album. There were some nice, fast rock songs in there like "Indy Kidz" and "Sabertooth Tiger", and there were also some pretty mellow indie songs like "Right Before Your Eyes", and the last track on the album "Flow" (which is a personal favorite of mine). Throw in some fun songs like "Aberdeen," "Around My Head," and the lead off single "Shake Me Down" (best choice for a lead single, btw) and you have yourself a pretty good sophmore album from Cage the Elephant. This album is a great entry point for people who have never heard of them and fans of the first album. Highly recommended.
